1. Better control fish feed quality
Cobia is generally fed with trash fish. Even though trash fish is mainly used to feed low value species, there are still marine farms use trash fish to feed Cobia as a cheaper option. However, we think trash fish is not nutritious enough to breed the best Cobia. Therefore, we have our own aquaculture feed plant to generate fish feeds containing higher protein and lipid. Researches have shown that fishes (including Cobia) consume fish feeds with the appropriate lipid content will grow at the optimal rate. Moreover, with the appropriate lipid content in the fish feeds, Cobia will generate more lipids in its belly and back and as a result, its meat will be juicier than Cobia consuming trash fish or regular fish feeds.

2. Enjoy stable fish feed supply
Studies also show that prices for trash fish have been increasing in the past few years. As trash fish supplies are finite, NTPL has the competitive advantage of having its own aquaculture feed plant. It will always have a stable fish feed supply. Our prices and costs will not be impacted by the increase of trash fish prices.

3. Avoid problems associated with trash fish
There seems to be increasing problems associated with trash fish feeding, such as increased risk of introducing a disease organism, storage difficulties, consistency of quality / supply and fouling of the water. We will not encounter these problems with our own fish feed plant.
